Artist Statement:
I want to make the taboo beautiful
Bio:
Scarlett Ford examines contemporary issues such as women's role in art history, reparative histories and the female body with a social critique. Through her work she tries to raise awareness of these issues and use the power of art to help with them. Her artwork covers a range of interdisciplinary forms (punch needle tufting, cyanotypes, embroidery). Her work has been exhibited and sold nationally and internationally in cities such as New York City and Chicago. She has worked with multiple creative organisations such as the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Woman Made Gallery, Multistory and Eastside Projects. She has also been gifted bursaries from the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Multistory and Arts Connect. She has a First Class degree in Fine Art from the Wolverhampton School of Art.

Relevant Work Experience
Social Media Content Creator - The Wolverhampton Art Gallery
In this role I lead the Instagram account for the gallery. I created Instagram reels primarily, with these reels I would promote exhibitions and events going on around the gallery. I also worked with the British Museum to promote their show 'Drawing Attention'. I played a part promoting the Wolverhampton Literature Festival, interviewing celebrities such as Raphael Rowe and Louise Minchin.
National Saturday Club - Saturday Art Club Creative Assistant
My role in this position was to assist in the running of activities, engage the students in the arts, and I am also lead a 'Punch Needle Tufting' workshop.
Whistlefish Galleries - Seasonal Gallery Assistant
In this position my responsibilities were to sell artwork, maintain stock on the shelves, interact with customers, open and close the shop, handle deliveries and also clean the gallery.
British Art Show 9 - Invigilator
In this position I guarded the artworks, informed visitors about the artworks and completed customer feedback surveys with members of the public.
Blists Hill Victorian Town - Columbine Print Press Assistant
I worked in the printers in the Victorian Town. I operated the Columbine Press and printed onto the bags that would go in the stores across the town, I also demonstrated to the visitors how it was used.
